Sleep Is Like Winning The Lottery When You're A New Parent!

Every new parent has felt it. Sleep Deprivation. You have brought home this new bundle of joy and are in awe of them. Everyone tells you to sleep when the baby sleeps, eat when the baby eats, do laundry when the baby does laundry.

Oh wait, babies don’t do laundry. So what typically happens is when the baby is sleeping is, you are up doing laundry along with every other household chore.

Your baby is not sleeping through the night yet because typical newborn behavior is to wake frequently to eat. So if baby wakes up, you wake up. You’ve been doing laundry, dishes, picking up the house, and cooking all day while your sweet new baby sleeps.

Let’s add this up.

No sleep during the day + frequent waking’s at night and state of awareness = a very tired new parent.

This is the typical pattern for new families once they bring their baby home. The bottom line is parents need more rest. In order to lower stress levels and maximize the mother’s recovery from birth, the family needs help.

So let’s see what happens when we add a Postpartum Doula to the equation.

Postpartum Doula takes care of the laundry, dishes, picking up the house, and cooking meals + mom and baby are resting during the day + mom is being fed throughout the day + the Postpartum Doula brings mom the baby at night to breastfeed if she’s breastfeeding or the Postpartum Doula makes the baby a bottle = A relaxed, refreshed, and well rested parent!

This is an equation that makes sense. There is no need to be extremely tired and feeling like your house falling apart. There are experts out there to help you have a more enjoyable postpartum recovery. Look throughout your community for Postpartum Doulas to see who can help. They work during the day and they work overnight. They provide non-judgmental and unbiased support. You can rest assured you will be well rested when you hire a Postpartum Doula.

So if you are looking for the perfect equation after you have you baby, call us! We will help you come up with a plan. After all, sleep is like winning the lottery when you have a new baby.
