Melissa E. (she/her) - Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Prenatal & Postnatal yoga teacher, Lactation Counselor

Areas Served:  Northwest Arkansas - Bella Vista to Farmington

Describe yourself in three words: Grounded, Earthy, Courageous

Why did you become a Doula?:  To fully support and care for mothers, babies, and families in the most transformative and sacred time of their lives. After having a traumatic experience with my first child and first-hand seeing the abysmal gap in care for mothers and lack of support/education for mothers and families in this period of their lives, I knew I had to step into this role in order to be a part of building a better community for women and families and help them have the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum they want and deserve. Birth experiences change lives and if mothers and families are educated, empowered, and confident in this time, the postpartum and formation of the family is set up for success.

More about me: I am a Birth & Postpartum Doula, Certified Indigenous Lactation Counselor, and 200 hr Registered Yoga Teacher. I am whole-heartedly devoted to supporting, empowering, and educating mothers and families in this amazing and transformative period of their lives. Through education, support, and community, mothers and families have access to a beautiful experience and transition during this time. Pregnancy and birth should be a beautiful experience you look forward to, not something to only fear.

I became a doula in August 2021 and am a life long resident of NWA. I love to teach all kinds of yoga (including prenatal, postpartum, and baby & me) and be involved in the Birthworker community and community at large.

When I'm not helping families in birth & postpartum or teaching yoga, I love to spend time with friends, dabble in crafts, music & poetry, go on adventures, and spend time in nature & in water with my husband Travis, son Tripp, and daughter Maya.
